Welcome to the 2016-17 90 Degree Show. In this podcast we discuss the Granddaddy of battles The Honda BOTB from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. We welcome Christy Walker and Rashad Watters to the podcast to talk about their 2017 experience. We ask if this was a great Honda and if the performances were worthy of the circumstance. We will discuss what jumped out at us from the event and we will ponder over if this will be the last Honda BOTB. We talk briefly about some of the articles written about the Honda and about HBCU Bands and we wrap up with some schools that we would have liked to see this year and some schools to see in 2018. Mr. Wright was groomed with a Dream Team of music educators and peers on his way to becoming Head Band Director at a major HBCU program. Tonight we find out where Mr. Wright is from, were he went to school, who he studied under and with and how he became Band Director at Alabama A&M University.

The 90 Degree Show 2015 Week 7

Welcome to the 2015 90 Degree Show Week 7! This week we talk about Jackson State vs. Alabama A&M, the fifth with Tuskeegee vs. Stillman. Southern’s Homecoming with Prairie View A&M, and the fifth between North Carolina A&T Bethune Cookman. The directors Carlton Wright and Mario Warren from Alabama A&M call in while they listen to the show, Otis Jefferson went to Savannah State’s homecoming and tells us how the band is doing after this past week, Chris Jones calls in to talk about he saw with the Boom from this week and John Lennard the Director at Tuskeegee calls in and explains to us about the home side of the field and why it looks so different. Lastly we talk about an salaries for band directors in the state of Texas.
